Solace Dead Heart

Solace Dead Heart
is a new visual piece created as an homage to the collage and assemblage work of Robert Rauschenberg. His approach to layering fragments, distressed textures, found materials and half‑erased memories has always resonated with the ethos of This Window. This video follows that lineage: a drifting collage of surfaces, glitches, shadows and emotional residue, stitched together in a way that feels fragile.

The soundtrack is an excerpt from a longer electronic composition that will appear on a new This Window release in 2027. The full piece moves through cold pulses, analogue drift, and slow‑burn tension, but this short extract captures the heart of it — a sense of suspended time, mechanical breath, and the quiet ache of repetition.

Solace Dissected

Sonically, the track sits somewhere between synthwave minimalism, goth electronics and darkwave atmospherics. Low‑frequency shadows, the kind of brooding textures that have shaped the project since its earliest cassette‑culture experiments. It’s electronic music with a haunted edge: part memory, part machinery, part unresolved emotion.

This video is a small glimpse of what is coming next. A new era for This Window begins in 2027.

"This Window’s use of 8mm film alongside digital and AI‑generated footage creates a tension that feels both deliberate and deeply instinctive. The grain, flicker and physical imperfections of the 8mm material act like a grounding force — a reminder of touch, memory and the analogue world — while the digital and AI layers introduce a drifting, unstable sense of perception. When these elements bleed together, the result is a hybrid visual language where nostalgia and machine‑driven hallucination coexist. The handmade texture of film scratches and overexposed light becomes a counterpoint to the cool, fluid strangeness of AI imagery, producing work that feels like a memory being rewritten in real time, half human recollection and half synthetic dream."
