Solace Dead Heart is a new visual piece created as an homage to the collage and assemblage work of Robert Rauschenberg . His approach to layering fragments, distressed textures, found materials and half‑erased memories has always resonated with the ethos of This Window . This video follows that lineage: a drifting collage of surfaces, glitches, shadows and emotional residue, 8mm home movie, stitched together in a way that feels fragile. Listen to more The soundtrack is an excerpt from a longer electronic composition that will appear on a new This Window release in 2027 . The full piece moves through cold pulses, analogue drift, and slow‑burn tension, but this short extract captures the heart of it — a sense of suspended time, mechanical breath, and the quiet ache of repetition. Solace Dissected Sonically, the track sits somewhere between synthwave minimalism , goth electronics and darkwave a...

...from Extractivism , track released April 28, 2026. An excerpt from This Window, recorded at Morgue Studios in 2026. “Gone Like the Whispers of Silent Clouds” Musically, it occupies the borderlands where darkwave, minimal synth, post‑industrial and experimental gothic overlap. The foundation is a slow, deliberate pulse: brooding synth beds, cold atmospheres, and vocals that lean toward spoken word rather than song. The arrangement stays sparse and intentional — minimal electronics, icy textures, and non‑pop structures that echo the ethos of the 1980s cassette‑culture underground. Extractivism by This Window Listen on Bandcamp “Gone Like the Whispers of Silent Clouds” unfolds like a drifting, half‑remembered dream — a fragment that feels discovered rather than composed, as if recovered from a damaged tape. The video blends AI‑generated imagery with Super 8 home‑movie fragments, forming a collage that ...

This track is about how, when relationships turn sour, criticism sometimes becomes the weapon of choice. When relationships turn sour, criticism often mutates into something far more corrosive than simple disagreement. It stops being a way to understand each other and becomes a way to score hits, a quiet kind of warfare waged in kitchens, bedrooms, and text threads. What once was tenderness turns tactical; every flaw becomes evidence, every misstep a chance to reclaim ground that feels lost. People who once protected each other’s soft spots start aiming for them instead, not always out of malice but out of fear — fear of losing control, fear of being the one who cared more, fear of admitting the hurt underneath. And so criticism becomes the weapon of choice: easy to reach for, quick to deploy, and devastating in its accuracy, because no one knows where to cut like someone who once loved you. ...

This snippet from an interview reveals the experimental methodology of This Window. Early encounters with Roxy Music’s art‑school disruption and The Faust Tapes ’ radical tape collage showed that sound could be treated as raw material — something to manipulate, fracture, and rebuild. These moments shaped a way of working where process mattered as much as outcome. As the project developed, modest home‑taping equipment became central to that approach. A reel‑to‑reel and budget cassette recorder encouraged experimentation through limitation, turning noise, accidents, and mechanical quirks into creative tools. This introduction sets the stage for understanding how those formative influences evolved into the distinctive, hands‑on methods explored throughout this article. “The Dark Ages” began life as nothing more than a test track—an excuse to fire up the studio’s evolving synth setup and see how the new modular configuration behaved under pressure. What started as a technical experiment quickly grew into something far more evocative, with the patching centred around two modular Eurorack banks loaded with Moog, cre8audio, Datapoint and Doepfer modules, each adding its own flavour of instability, warmth, and controlled chaos. A revised version of this track is due for release in 2027 There has always been a darker side to This Window ’s music, perhaps influenced by its association with the Goth scene and being in a support band for Bauhaus . The Dark Ages The track is a nostalgic look back to the old days—some of them good, and quite a few of them best forgotten. Alongside the modular synth sat the Panasonic SX‑KC600, a humble keyboard/synth that had been dragged out of retirement. Despite its budget‑friendly origins, the SX‑KC600 still de...
